Silver State Flute Choir

The Silver State Flute Choir is comprised of 8-10 talented flute students, ages 12-18.  Playing piccolo, C flute, Alto flute and Bass flute this ensemble presents a wide range of musical styles including Patriotic, Classical, Latin, Holiday and Popular selections. The SSFC was formed in 2017, and since its inception has performed in many venues across the Las Vegas Valley.

With a strong emphasis on Community Service and our local Veterans community, these students have performed concerts to honor a local WWII veteran and for the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 17 Open House. Each Memorial Day, they join the American Legion Post 76 for their service, playing 30 minutes of prelude music.  Several concerts for the Nevada State Veterans Home has endeared these young people to our treasured heroes where they lead sing-a-longs as well as perform classical-themed selections.

The SSFC was honored to be asked to present a Smith Center lobby concert prior to the Nevada Ballet Theatre's 2017 production of "The Nutcracker'.  A second lobby concert followed two months later when they were asked to perform prior to a Las Vegas Philharmonic concert.  They look forward to more opportunities like these in 2018-2019.

Students wear lovely, royal blue gowns for formal events and jeans or black pants with the SSFC T-shirt for informal events.

The SSFC has its own YouTube channel and Facebook page.  Any flute student who wishes to join, may audition, by appointment, during the spring and summer months.  Technique, tone quality and centered pitch are weighed heavily as well as a positive and joyful countenance.
